How-to Planning

Are you ready? Because ready or not, summer is coming quickly.

Many of you have school-aged children and summer means kids are home. Which means, momma needs a plan!

If you’re new to HelloMornings, I want offer a big WELCOME to you! Part of our focus through HelloMornings is to offer accountability in the planning department. We encourage you to plan your days in order to maximize your days. For those of you with children this will help you lead your family better and with confidence.

In our last planning series, we looked at what the Bible has to say about planning. And in short – planning is biblical. While we are not all good at it (that’s me), or naturally inclined to it (me, again) – we are all called to plan.

And thank God for others who are good at it with ideas and practical resources to share. I’m so excited about the Confident Mom’s 2013 Summer Survival Calendar. It’s a four-month calendar with ideas and inspiration to help you plan your best summer yet!

2013 Summer Survival Calendar

I want to invite you all to join me to take charge of your summer and make it one full of fun and great memories with your family.

Take the Summer Survival mini-Challenge!

In order to plan an awesome summer, there is some prep work to be done. And it’s going to be a lot more fun to do it (and a lot more likely that we will do it), if we do it together. So, we’re creating a challenge. A Summer Survival Challenge.

  • Julie M. says:

I can’t wait to start this challenge. It is tough to find things for all my kids to do. With two teenagers, it is difficult to keep them away from the computer and TV when they feel like the things that are planned for the younger two are boring.

    • Jenni says:

That’s definitely a unique challenge. I think some of the worksheets up front will help you a lot in this department – to find things that ALL your kids will enjoy!

I bought mine just a few days ago. It’s already printed in put nicely in a folder. Now to take the time to look over it. My kids are in school until the last week of May so I have a little time, but then again time flies. I can’t believe it’s already May. I love that you’re doing this challenge. A little accountability will go a long way for me. Thanks!!!

    • Jenni says:

My kids are in school through May, too. By the end of this month, we’ll be armed a ready for action! Best of luck!

  • I’m in and I’m choosing you as my partner for this challenge!

I’m so in! With 2 autistic children, summers are by far the HARDEST season out there. Could we get any more off schedule??! LOL. Just bought it, off to print it, see you Monday!

  • Amy says:

Very excited about this, want to go in to summer prepared so that we can have more fun!

  • Jessica Allen says:

I’m enrolling. I just purchased the bundle but I have to tell you I’m skeptical. I am a stepmom and we only have the boys on the weekends. However, those weekends need to be filled :>)

    • Jenni says:

I’m glad you’re giving it a go, Jessica. I’m not a natural planner, but using tools like this one have definitely helped me. Happy to have you!

  • Jess says:

Such a great idea! I always want to have a well-planed summer, but that means having the time to sit down and plan it all, which I just plain don’t. Thanks for doing it for us! 🙂

    • Jenni says:

I’m just as excited as you to get started! A good plan goes a LONG way! I’m praying/believing that this commitment on the front it will pay off in a BIG way for our family!

  • Zora says:

I just purchased this. This is one of my biggest struggles during the summer. Love having my boys home but sometimes it is just hard 😉 Looking forward to making it the best summer ever!

    • I agree! It’s hard having the kids home for the summer and not just sitting infront of the TV doing nothing. I, too, want this to be the BEST summer ever!

  • Sarah says:

YAY! I got this last week and have yet to do anything with it. Accountability would be awesome, as well as some ideas and a good push in the right direction. I’m about to have a newborn and would love to be more purposeful with my almost 4 year old when I can this summer. I’m concerned if I dont plan it, it won’t happen! Thanks so much!!

  • Brooke B says:

Got it! I’m looking forward to the mini challenge.

  • Mary Hurst says:

I would love to be enrolled in the mini challenge! I had no idea this tool was out there… I tried doing it myself last year and I was burned out by month 1! Thank you!!

  • […] only that, but one of my favorite blog sites, HelloMornings, is doing a Summer Survival {mini} Challenge using Susan’s calendar! I love a good challenge, especially one that aims at preparing me […]

  • Rosemarie Ross says:

I purchased it the day it came out and want to enroll! I really need this because I have a bad habit of purchasing with good intentions but no follow through. Thank you!

  • count me in as well! Every summer I go through the same problem of not knowing what to do with my kids. I want to become more active, so this may be a good opportunity!

    • Jenni says:

I have the same challenge. It will take planning on our end, but this resource gives tons of ideas and I know will make it much easier! So glad you’re “in”!

  • April Brown says:

Ready for the Summer Mini Challenge…Let’s Go!

  • I am so doing this challenge this summer! Count me in!

  • Emily says:

I think this is so great and I’m very glad you are doing this.

what about those of us who are single and/or have no children and are new to hello mornings? Thankful for my single women’s fb group or I’d feel like I didn’t belong here at all, especially after this offer. just think you should remember you have a whole group of women you exclude from benefiting from all hello mornings has to offer.

    • Lynette says:

I’m not sure that an offer for Mums with children to plan for the summer should make you feel excluded or like you don’t belong here. From what I can remember there are other offers that are for everybody – coffee, coffee mugs to name a couple. As it happens I don’t drink coffee but the offers for this never made me feel excluded, they just weren’t for me right now and everything can’t be for everyone 100% of the time. Hello Mornings was started by a Mum with children who had a desire to wake and meet with God before meeting with her children, therefore it is understandable that the mass market are in this group and offers will reflect this. The fact that it has extended far beyond this is fantastic in my mind; sisters in Christ putting God first, no matter how old we are, whether we’re single, married, how many children we have or even grandmothers. I have a lady in my group with no children and she is a fantastic asset. We love having her there and it’s wonderful to hear that there is a group for single ladies too. Blessings to you in your HelloMornings journey.
