I’ve never experienced quite the harsh circumstances that Job or Joseph did. And even though none of us may have experienced the extremes they did, I know some of you have come close. And then there are those of you like me who wonder if your life testimony has any worth or story to it, because from the outside looking in, it looks like a simple, easy life with little difficulty.
Overcoming the conflict is what makes the story good, interesting, maybe even valuable, right? But in the midst of our stories, there is an unseen character. This character is author, perfector, friend, and never the foe.
It is God and His unfailing love for us that add value to our story.
No matter what our story is – one of many and great trials or one with trials that seem small, there is only One that fully understands and writes our story. No matter what size our conflicts are, we all suffer – through hurts, pains, and disappointments.
Like Job and Joseph, we become heroes in our own stories when we choose to cling to a God we cannot see or at times hear or sometimes feel. We place our hope in a God whose love is immeasurable.
God’s amazing love is tethered to us, and nothing separates us from this love. Not even our wrongdoings, our mess ups, our imperfections, our struggles with disappointments, or our suffering.
These very things caused Him to send His ONLY Son, Jesus, for us. What kind of Love, what kind of God does this?
The point of everything He has ever done for us is His incomparable LOVE.
He could have remained high and lofty – inaccessible and unreachable. Yet we worship a God who stooped down and suffered among us, who knows and understands our weaknesses, and who came near to us!
He led us out of bondage into a spacious place! And yet we are not forgotten by Him. Instead, we hide under the shelter of His wings in our free and wide places!
As we hold onto this immeasurable love, bigger than we can know or imagine, our story shifts.
As you study this week, this is my prayer for you (and my life verses):
I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:16-19
Friend, God loves YOU! May you always grow in depth and richness of God’s love as it grows wider, longer, higher, and deeper. May our hope in Him abound!
