Jesus as Our Gardener god time Aug 01, 2022

This post is by Christy Hinnant.

Every morning I do this thing.  I stand at the coffee pot, and I wait.  And while I wait for that gorgeous rich aroma to start filling the house, I check on all my little plant babies.

You see, I love succulents.  They bring me joy and happiness that I can’t really explain.  I love to watch them grow.  Some days, I need to turn their pots so that they continue to stretch up straight, instead of bending toward the window.  Predictably, some days they need wate...

Do I Know God? god time Jul 25, 2022

This post is by Joanne Wu.

“So kids, what do you think mom wants for her birthday?” I was a bit amused to hear my husband ask my children this on the noisy car ride home.  After experiencing a day of surprises and showers of love from friends and family, I had yet to receive what I had actually hoped would happen on my birthday - to not have to plan any meals, to not have to clean up after anyone, and to be so at rest that I could feel bored.  As a mother of five kids 10 and under, that last...

No Such Thing As An Unanswered Prayer god time prayer Jul 04, 2022

This post is by Jen Stanbro.

It fairly breaks my heart when I hear someone say, “God didn’t answer my prayer.”

It makes me feel as though God is a parent who gives His beloved the silent treatment in response to our cries to Him. It suggests that He’s a God who’s not intimately involved in the big and small matters of our lives. That doesn’t sound anything like the God I know.

My God’s Word says things like, “On the day I called you, you answered me; my strength of soul you increased,”(P...

One Verse, One Day     busy season god time Jun 27, 2022

This post is by Deb Alexander.

I mentor a young woman who is a mama to two littles. She is also a wife, a sister, a daughter, a friend, and a student.

The last time we met, she mentioned that she had been trying to sit down with her Bible and her journal when her girls slept, but she was having a hard time concentrating in the middle of the afternoon.

Instead of giving up, she found a different rhythm that is working for her in this full season. She told me she had started reading one B...

When Your Morning Changes god time morning routine mornings Jun 20, 2022

This post is by Gianna Kordatzky.

Two years ago we got a dog.  A dog is an adventure that we didn’t understand when we decided we needed one for our family.

And need one we did.  Our son’s epilepsy caused us some anxiety, and we really wanted a dog who was created by God to be keenly aware of its surroundings.  Even without being a trained seizure God, Gypsy has given us a lot of peace of mind.

Anyway, the reason for getting our dog is not the point. The fact of the matter is we got ...

The Evolution of My Time With God god time May 09, 2022

This post is by Jen Stanbro.

Growing up in the church, I was often instructed that giving God my time was important. So I did with fair regularity in my young adult and teen years. But as life got busier, I struggled to carve out time for the Lord, to fit time with Him into my life. Time with Him felt more like a ‘To Do’ on my long list.

I remember the season when I started feeling a shift. I began to feel the difference between a day with quiet time and a day without. Giving God time f...

The Unassuming Benefits of Faith god time Apr 18, 2022

This post is by Shari Gabourel.

If I can pass along a bit of advice, it would be not to underestimate the remarkable benefits of connecting with God through His Word. Being deliberate in regularly engaging the Word of God is a practical and effective means to living and regulating your life in faith.

I think of it like getting in a recommended daily allowance of vitamins and minerals—from fruits and vegetables.

Before I go any further, you should know consuming fruits and vegetables IS ...

3 Ways to Get Out of That Slump god time Mar 28, 2022

This post is by Jenn Kokal.

Do you ever find yourself in a slump?

Perhaps you suddenly realize how messy your house is, how you’re constantly running late, or how you just can’t seem to wake up early enough to read your Bible. It happens to us all. The problem is, we think we can fix our slump by doing a “better” routine that will help us “Get perfectly organized in 30 days,” or “Read the Bible every day without fail.” It doesn’t take us long to discover that these “better” routines don’t w...

God Time: Quality Over Quantity god time Mar 21, 2022

This post is by Jen Stanbro.

Just before my first born came into the world, I began reading up on breast-feeding. There are so many incredible nods to God’s awesomeness in the way He carefully designed nursing to be a special time between a mom and her beloved, where mom provides the important things baby needs for healthy development, from cognitive health to a strong immune system, and far beyond. Amid gobs and gobs of information on the subject, I came across one bit that particularly ...

“Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take up my yoke and learn from me…and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” -Jesus (Matthew 11:28-30)

“Hurry is the great enemy of spiritual life in our day. You must ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life.” -Dallas Willard

Jesus was rarely in a hurry, and he was uncompromisingly present. Remember that story in Mark chapter 5, when Jairus’ ...

The Care of Souls: Relationship over Routine book club book review god time Mar 07, 2022

This post is by Sabeth Kapahu.

We can practice all the spiritual disciplines, apply our therapist’s advice, and produce better results for those we help, but can we do all of these without ever having loved? Have we experienced transformational attachment to Christ, or are we just practicing disciplines to get by? These are some underlying themes of Renovated: God, Dallas Willard, & the Church that Transforms by Jim Wilder. Renovated shares the stories of friendship between and teachings ...

Let the Morning Tip the Scale god time habit building Jan 03, 2022

This post is by Martha Buford.

It happened slowly, ever so slowly. If I had not been looking for it, I might not have seen it. I did not notice any difference at first, but then one day there it was, there was room to move in my once skintight jeans. Faithfulness had paid off. This blog is not so much about weight loss as it is about doing daily what we know to do and seeing that faithfulness pays off.

I was well past middle age and struggling with my growing middle. Nothing was working. Then...
