Hiding the Word in Our Hearts bible study Mar 31, 2025

This post is by Patty Lewis.

Since our theme is Bible study this month, I’ve pondered how to write on the topic. I decided to ask  women who are special and close to me—that I have actually studied God’s Word with—some specific questions about studying the Bible.

Some pointers from my heart:

Be flexible with yourself and the tools you use to study God’s Word. Be willing to allow yourself to modify the study tools you are using in order to work with what you enjoy and your schedule.

Be grac...

When We're Intentional bible study god time Mar 03, 2025

“Chica,” said the gorgeous doctor with a set of fresh French tips and runway hair, “I’m prescribing you ten days of antibiotics, something to get rid of the mucus, and painkillers, just in case. If this doesn’t treat your sinusitis, there’s no more I can do. You’ll have to go to the specialist.”

And with those words, I bounced out the door, handing the receptionist and the clinic guard a sandwich bag tied with red curling ribbon filled with chocolate chip cookies, t...

When I was first let loose on this world at a meager 18 years old, I thought I knew so much. Fast forward almost 30 years and I actually chuckled to myself when writing that last sentence. While I had traveled more than most people I knew and had been exposed to some of life’s hard truths, what I actually knew about life was more of a sentence or two.

These days, I am the proud owner of at least a few chapters of knowledge. Even still, things will catch me unawa...

I found out my marriage was in crisis on a Friday afternoon in September. I had wondered, of course - something between us was off, but I couldn’t put my finger on exactly what that something was. Until I could.

I wasn’t a believer back when our marriage fell apart nearly 30 years ago. Nor was my husband. We had grown up attending church on Sunday mornings and youth groups on Sunday afternoons, but had not yet accepted Christ as Lord and Savior.

When I couldn...

O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. Psalm 63:1

There are so many ways to approach studying the Bible. Of course, we are all beautifully different, so naturally we’ll have varying preferences. I’m sure plans like studying the whole Bible in one year have great benefit to the personality with whom this method fits. I, however, have attempted to read the w...

Keep and Do bible study god time Jun 21, 2021

This post is by Shari Gabourel.

The thing about reading or studying the Bible—with any consistency, is eventually the reader will either regard its contents as credible and reliable or unbelievable and unreliable.

Should you or I agree the Scripture is trustworthy, it stands to reason we must make it our practice to keep and do what the Word of God says.

In Deuteronomy 4, we listen to one of the Bible’s most notable leaders, Moses, address the nation of Israel about the importance of keeping ...

Do you want to be prepared for what the world pushes against you, have the ability to defend your King well, and change the world for the better? My answer is yes, and if you are a child of God, most likely your answer is YES too! In order to do these things, we must know the significance of God’s Holy Armor and understand its vital importance to the survival of the soul (mind, will, and emotions), body, and spirit. That being said, today our focus is on the most i...
