Worship: Giving God My Whole Self in Prayer Nov 13, 2023

This post is by Cheli Sigler.

Above all, worship is a giving of our whole selves to God— heart, mind, soul, and body. Because of Christ’s mercy, we don’t hold anything back. Emphasizing this, the apostle Paul pleads in Romans 12:1:

“. . . present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”

Whenever we think of worship, it is easy to forget this holistic view. One activity that encourages a giving of my  whole self to God is prayer.

As a yo...

Movement Mindset move time movement Nov 06, 2023

This post is by Shaina R. Weisgerber.

Over the years I have had a love/hate relationship with “move time”. Moving your body, health, exercise, wellness, and nutrition are all subjects I didn’t learn about through a Biblical lens. I was well into my thirties before I began to make the connection between my walk with Christ and my morning walk.  The more I learn about moving my body the more I realize just how connected the spiritual is to the physical.

Moving our bodies can present a level of ...

Extra Steps, Setbacks, and Moving Forward move time movement Oct 30, 2023

This post is by Patty Lewis.

Our family has a little saying when we have to park farther than we might want to from where we are going.  “At least we will get our extra steps in today!”  Sometimes we even park farther away on purpose to create those “extra steps.”  This is one of the small ways we move just a little more.  My husband and son are very encouraging, with a little teasing, when they say we should park a little farther out.  They know when I get into a habit with my move time it hel...

Movement Is the Way to Go move time movement Oct 23, 2023

This post is Janine Muniz.

Movement is important and prevalent these days. After spending so much time indoors, being able to go outside is a wonderful thing. And getting outside gives us more opportunities to get our bodies moving. Now having the choice of moving inside or outside (or both!) is a wonderful thing!

Normally when it comes to movement an automatic thought is exercise. But did you know that movement comes in different forms? It’s not always about going to that spin class or ...

Fit to Serve move time movement Oct 16, 2023

When I was in high school, my cousin (who was also my best friend) got me hooked on tv and video workouts. You could find us sweating it out to “Buns of Steel” or Tae Bo (remember those?!) or hanging with Denise Austin in each other's living rooms every summer. I don’t know why we decided to do that while we were both healthy, young and in good shape, but I’m so glad we did. This summer fun made home exercise a normal part of my life just as much as sports pr...

Seasons and Showing Up movement Oct 09, 2023

I do not know what it is about watching a storm roll through the Great Plains, but it stirs something deep within me. There is force and movement, wind and water, power and beauty. A dry cracked land soaks up this life-giving water and suddenly the collective inhabitants let out a deep sigh the heat and sun have forced us to hold in. As odd as this may sound, creating a habit of movement can refresh in a similar way. Dry bones spring to life in a connection with c...

Building Solid Bridges Through a Growth Mindset growth mindset positive mindset Oct 02, 2023

This post is by Jen Stanbro.

My son, James, has always struggled with math. Actually, I need to amend that. Math was merely a trigger. What James has actually struggled with is his response to hard things. And life is full of hard things, so math quickly became a microcosm of sorts for us.

Helping him with the actual equations was the easy part. Helping him change his mindset was the real journey.

The first thing I noticed was that, as soon as James encountered a piece of information h...

One Little Shift in Thinking growth mindset positive mindset Sep 25, 2023

This post is by Tami Rodriguez.

As the years go by, one of the things I have found fascinating and amazing is how much our mindset affects every aspect of our lives. It’s hard to wrap my brain around how something as little as how you think can really make that big of a difference…especially for me.

Ironically, I can see it easily in other people. In my kids I see how their mindset as they approach things is pretty foretelling as to how that activity or interaction is going to go. If they ...

Have you ever seen this t-shirt? It has a picture of a glass half-filled with liquid and two arrows pointing to it saying “fifty percent water, fifty percent air – technically, the glass is completely full!” I had not seen one until my husband decided to buy this shirt for himself; it made me smile. He is one that often sees the glass one-hundred percent full, and I am always learning from him.

It has not always been easy to tune out the negative and lean into the th...

Two Tips to Help You Actually Keep the Goals You Set goals plan time Aug 07, 2023

This post is by Lindsey Bell.

Have you ever planned to make a change and then failed to follow through?

Most of us probably have more times than we’d care to admit. We have the best of intentions but then something happens and we don’t make good on those plans. Sometimes, the reason for this lack of follow through is because we set our goals too high.

We know how important it is to start our day with the Lord, so we plan to jump in full steam ahead and read 4 chapters each morning. By the e...

The Unexpected Blessings of Shabbat god time rest Jul 24, 2023

This post is by Briane Kearns.

Many concepts in Scripture hold deep theological meaning that can bless and encourage us and strengthen our walk with the Lord. Shabbat is one of those for me.

Our English word Sabbath comes from the Hebrew term Shabbat. We generally think of Sabbath as a day of the week. But the Hebrew word is derived from a verb meaning to cease, to repose, to desist from exertion, to leave, to put away or down.

Shabbat first appears in the Creation story: “on the seventh day ...

Struggling to Rest rest Jul 17, 2023

This post is by Kelli LaFram.

At the end of 2021, after several years of toil and strife at work, at school, and in my home, I was depleted and empty. I wasn’t practicing the art of saying no at work, nor was I setting healthy, appropriate boundaries with friends and family. I wasn’t sleeping well, my mind was constantly spinning with thoughts of tasks left undone, and I wasn’t able to be present with my family. Though I was financially stable and living and working in a safe environment, my...
